Murad Papazyan will be removed from the list of persons considered undesirable in Armenia

The data of ARF Bureau member, co-chairman of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF) Murad Papazyan will be removed from the data bank of foreigners considered undesirable in the RA territory.

“Dear friends, I am happy to inform you that the RA justice has restored my right to return to Armenia. This decision proves that Justice in Armenia can be independent. Let’s thank it for that.”

In October 2023, Murad Papazyan filed a lawsuit against the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia (NSS) in order to oblige it to remove his data from the database of foreigners considered undesirable in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

Siranush Sahakyan, the head of the International and Comparative Law Center, represented his interests in court.

The reason for Papazian's appeal to the court was the ban on his entry to Armenia on July 13, 2022. He stated that this was done by the order of the Prime Minister of Armenia, and he will fight by all legal means to restore the right to return to Armenia. Shortly thereafter, he was informed by the Prime Minister's office that the reason for his ban was his participation in the protest that he had organized against Nikol Pashinyan in Paris on June 1, 2021.

On August 21, 2023, after the first preliminary session in this case, human rights defender Siranush Sahakyan announced during a press conference that Murad Papazyan did not participate in the actions against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Paris.

“By the way, if these actions had crossed the border of freedom of speech or other rights, be sure that the French authorities would have taken measures to prevent them,” noted the lawyer.
