ICRC donated about 50 books to the International and Comparative Law Center

The Armenian delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, headed by Sara Eprecht, donated about 50 books to the "International and Comparative Law Center" NGO. Donated books and manuals related to international humanitarian law (IHL) are intended for students of RA universities, researchers interested in IHL. The director of the center, Taron Simonyan, accepted the donation, and noted that the donated literature will serve its purpose and will be available for students of RA universities.

"We are very grateful to the International Committee of the Red Cross for such a wonderful gift. We consider the first phase of the 2014 programs - the creation of the ‘International and Comparative Law Center’ library - to have begun. The establishment of a library for students of RA universities and schools is an important step in the development of international law. We are very happy to cooperate with the International Committee of the Red Cross. We hope that the donations will continue, and other organizations will join, both local and international," said Taron Simonyan.

Sara Eprecht, the head of ICRC's Armenian delegation, noted that the symbolic donation in the form of books is aimed at making the cooperation with the Center continuous.

"This is the first step by which we initiate formal cooperation. ICRC is happy to cooperate, as we are very interested in the activities of the Center. We are happy to make materials related to international humanitarian law available to Armenian students," said Sara Eprecht.

The event was attended by founding members of the International and Comparative Law Center, RA Deputy Ministers of Justice Yeghishe Kirakosyan and Aram Orbelyan, Rector of the Academy of Justice Ruben Melikyan, Head of the Legal Advisory Department of the RA Constitutional Court Vladimir Vardanyan.
