Lawyer Siranush Sahakyan, within the framework of the programs implemented by the Civil Society Institute in 2011, participated in the study of the problems of the parole system and the legislative and practical issues of the system of parole in Armenia due to serious illnesses that prevent serving the sentence.
As a result of the study, one of the reports published by the Civil Society Institute NGO is as follows: “The System of Conditional Early Release from Sentence in the Republic of Armenia.”
The main goal of the study is to contribute to the establishment and development of the institution of parole in Armenia by developing and publicizing proposals based on the study of the current system and international experience, as well as assessing local needs.
The study made it possible to identify a number of key issues related to the parole system. They relate to the legal norms, principles and standards regulating the institution of parole, as well as the composition and work of decision-making bodies. The perception of the institution of parole in Armenia was recorded as a separate issue.
