Siranush Sahakyan is a lawyer with more than two decades of experience in the field. She received her bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University, then continued her studies at the University of Essex in Great Britain. There she earned a master's degree in law, specializing in international human rights law.
Siranush Sahakyan has served as an assistant to the President of Armenia, served at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, chaired the Corruption Prevention Commission of the RA, and was an ad hoc Judge for the European Court of Human Rights.
Outside of Public Service, Siranush Sahakyan partnered at Legalata Law firm. She was a founder and president of the “Protection of Rights without Borders” NGO. She is an expert for the OSCE/ODIHR, UNICEF Armenia, UNDP, the Civil Society Institute NGO, Social justice NGO, the Centre for European Law and Integration, and the International Centre for Transitional Justice. She is involved in different legislative initiatives, lobbying projects, monitoring, research, strategic litigation and legal counsel.
Having developed experience in the legal field, in 2010, together with like-minded individuals, she founded the "International and Comparative Law Center" NGO, aka "I.C.Law - Armenia".
Since 2008, Siranush Sahakyan has been a licensed attorney in the Chamber of Advocates. She has been teaching at the School of Advocates Since 2012 , at the American University of Armenia since 2014 and at the National Academy of Justice since 2017 .
Siranush Sahakyan has written and published more than 30 articles during her career.
