Siranush Sahakyan is a lawyer with more than two decades of professional experience in the field. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University and continued her studies at the University of Essex (United Kingdom), where she earned a Master’s degree in Law, specializing in International Human Rights Law.
Siranush Sahakyan worked at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, served as an assistant to the President of the Republic of Armenia, chaired the Corruption Prevention Commission of Armenia, and was as an ad hoc judge at the European Court of Human Rights.
Outside public service, Sahakyan has also been a partner at “Legelata” Law Firm and the co-founder and president of the NGO “Protection of Rights Without Borders.” She is an expert at OSCE/ODIHR, UNICEF Armenia, UNDP initiatives, the "Civil Society Institute" NGO, the "Social Justice" NGO, the "Center for European Law and Integration," and the "International Center for Transitional Justice," where she has been involved in legislative initiatives, lobbying programs, monitoring, research, strategic litigation, and legal consulting.
Building on her experience in the legal field, in 2010 she co-founded, together with colleagues sharing a common vision, the NGO “Center for International and Comparative Law” - "I.C.Law – Armenia."
Since 2008, Siranush Sahakyan has been a licensed attorney in the Chamber of Advocates. She has been teaching at the School of Advocates Since 2012 , at the American University of Armenia since 2014 and at the National Academy of Justice since 2017 .
Throughout her professional career, S. Sahakyan has authored and published more than 30 articles.
