Artak Zeynalyan and Siranush Sahakyan's statement regarding the Armenian prisoners of war who returned to their homeland

Artak Zeynalyan and Siranush Sahakyan, representatives of the interests of prisoners of war at the ECHR, issued a statement regarding the Armenian prisoners who returned to their homeland today.

"We are happy to inform you about the return of some of the Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan. As part of the process, both military officers and civilians who were captured during the large-scale war on 27.09.2020, as well as people who were captured before the war, whose rights we had entrusted to the European Court of Human Rights to protect, returned to their homeland.

More than half of those repatriates are prisoners for whom we filed complaints in the European Court against Azerbaijan in an effort to protect their rights. We will inform the public about our further steps towards the full restoration of their rights. At the same time, we reaffirm the continuity of our consistent steps towards the return of other Armenian prisoners still held in Azerbaijan," the statement reads.
