The relatives of 21-year-old Helen Dadayan, who died in a tragic car accident on the Gyumri-Yerevan road on August 14, have appealed to the ECtHR with a petition for an immediate measure, so that the girl's body can be transferred to Artsakh. Siranush Sahakyan, the representative of Helen Dadayan's family, informed about this.
In a conversation with Sputnik Armenia, the human rights lawyer said that if the court approves the application, it will first demand information from Azerbaijan regarding the possible obstacles and analyzes of the process of transporting the body, and secondly, it may also require Azerbaijan to ensure the transportation of the body to the Republic of Artsakh.
The human rights lawyer also mentioned that in connection with the case of moving the body of Helen Dadayan, the court unequivocally admits that there is a violation of the family’s right to privacy, because the family is deprived of the opportunity to bury the body, but a positive result is not guaranteed.
According to Sahakyan, Azerbaijan sets political demands to ensure citizen's rights.
"In particular, it requires documents where place names should be indicated not by Armenian, but by Azeri names, or instead of the Artsakh Republic, the Republic of Azerbaijan should be written. Political questions of an interstate nature are discussed and a burden is placed on the citizen to provide such documents, which are purely related to political issues and are in no way related to the implementation of human rights,” she said.
Previously, the girl's relatives also appealed to the Red Cross and the authorities of Artsakh.
