On June 11, the regular session of the Interdepartmental Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons was held, chaired by Armen Abazyan, Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia. He delivered the opening remarks.
"A. Abazyan presented the results of meetings held during the period preceding the session, reaffirming the Commission's commitment to continuing comprehensive and systematic work towards clarifying the fates of missing persons," stated the NSS press release.
Representatives of the Investigative Committee presented to the Commission the results of the ongoing investigations by the Committee regarding the circumstances of disappearance. Discussions then followed on how to organize the Commission's work more effectively.
The session was attended by relatives of prisoners of war, hostages, and missing persons, as well as Siranush Sahakyan, Head of the "International and Comparative Law Center," and Arman Tatoyan, former Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia.
At the end of the session, Commission Chairman Abazyan expressed hope that the joint and systematic work would yield tangible results aimed at clarifying the fates of missing persons.
