On January 14, 2026, citizens of the Syrian Arab Republic, Yousef Al-Aabet al-Haji and Muhrab Muhammad al-Shkheri, who were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Republic of Armenia, were transferred to the competent authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic through the Republic of Turkey. The purpose of this transfer is for the individuals to serve the remainder of their sentences in their state of citizenship. The transfer was carried out under the cooperation of the respective competent authorities and within applicable legal mechanisms.
